Skin Enhancement & Anti-Aging Solutions
Neurotoxins (Botox/Dysport/Jeuveau) and facial fillers are effective methods of reducing signs of aging. Both of the procedures have become increasingly more popular. Yet, it is often asked what is the difference between the two, as they are often confused as one another and considered synonymous. The truth is that they are not and tackle specifically different problems. BOTOX and Dysport reduce the activity of the muscles that cause wrinkles such as frown lines, worry lines and crow’s feet. This works by temporarily blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, thereby reducing muscle movement and causing wrinkles to relax and soften. Botox® is also used by experienced injectors to lift areas of the face and extend the life of some dermal filler applications. Neurotoxins are quick-acting, with results typically visible within 14 days, and lasting for 3 months. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are a range of products that fill depleted facial features, and in many instances stimulate collagen growth. Although each dermal filler has unique attributes, in general, most dermal fillers work in two ways. First, most of the fillers plump and lift the skin gently to replace collagen loss caused by the natural aging process. Secondly, most of the fillers also stimulate the body to produce its own natural collagen; some help more than others. Certified Injectors use dermal fillers in a variety of ways to lift features of the face, correct wrinkles and to restore smoothness and volume to the skin. The effects of most fillers are nearly instantaneous.
MORE INFO ABOUT BOTOX & DERMAL FILLERS
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of frown lines, “crow’s feet”, and expression lines. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.
Jeuveau® is a prescription medicine injected into muscles and used in adults for a short period (temporary) to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
Adds volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). What makes Perlane different from Restylane is the average size of the gel particles and the depth of injection. On average, the gel particles in Perlane are larger than those of Restylane, which makes Perlane a good choice for wrinkles that benefit from a deeper injection into the skin.
Discover the first and only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift and restoring a more youthful profile for up to 2 years with optimal treatment.
Neurotoxin can be used to treat Hyperhydrosis. Neurotoxin is injected into the affected areas, such as armpits and hands, to help control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, severe sweating stops from the armpits and hands. This makes you feel more comfortable and confident wearing lighter-colored clothing and makes embraces and handshakes less awkward.
Neurotoxin can also treat TMJ dysfunction (temporomandibular joint) pain and sliming the face when injected into the masseter (chewing) muscles. It can be used for migraines. Other areas include gummy smiles, downward drooping of the corner of the mouth, necklines, or neck sagging skin. It can be used to alleviate shoulder tension when it is injected into the trapezius muscle on the upper back and shoulders.
