What is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is a neurotoxin that relaxes facial muscles under the skin, preventing the skin from creasing or wrinkling. Like Botox, it uses botulinum toxin A to achieve this muscle-relaxing and skin-smoothing effect. However, Jeuveau is slightly different because its formula has undergone a different purifying process and is only FDA-approved for moderate to severe frown line treatment.

 Frown lines are also called “11 lines” because they appear as two vertical lines between the brows. Repeated facial expressions like frowning and squinting gradually lead to the formation of these dynamic wrinkles. After Jeuveau treatment, patients have also seen improvement in static lines in this area (fine lines caused by sun damage and natural aging).

Who is a Candidate for Jeuveau?

Almost any healthy adult who is bothered by their frown lines can benefit from Jeuveau. However, those with an allergy to botulinum toxin or other ingredients in the Jeuveau formula are not candidates. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should wait to receive treatment.

Jeuveau Procedure

Jeuveau is a minimally invasive procedure that can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Patients typically do not find this treatment to be painful aside from a tiny needle prick. After your skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment, several injections will be made in the treatment area by your skilled MD or RN injector.

After Your Jeuveau Treatment

There is virtually no downtime or recovery after Jeuveau treatment. Mild swelling and bruising around the injection sites are common but will improve after a few days. To reduce swelling and bruising, we recommend that patients avoid strenuous activities for 24 hours. Cold compresses and anti-inflammatory medications can alleviate your discomfort and help to quickly reduce swelling. Results can be seen as soon as in two days for some people, maximal effect can be seen after two weeks and clinically proven to last 3-4 months. It is recommended that patients wait three months before receiving additional Jeuveau injections to touch up their results.
