Beat Dry Skin this Winter Season

During winter, many of us find ourselves struggling with dry skin. Harsh weather and dry indoor heating can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving our complexions dry, flaky, and prone to irritation. However, with a few simple adjustments to your skincare routine and lifestyle, you can beat dry skin and enjoy a hydrated and moisturized winter season.
Hydration is Essential
One of the easiest ways to beat dry winter skin is by staying hydrated from the inside out. Drinking a sufficient amount of water helps to maintain your skin’s moisture levels from within. A good hydration goal for most people is at least eight glasses of water a day. You can also incorporate healthy drinks like herbal teas to further give your skin the extra boost of the moisture it so desperately needs during the winter months. Skinvive by Juvederm can help tremendously as well. It is the first and only hyaluronic acid microdroplet injectable for improving skin smoothness in the cheeks, giving you a lasting glow from within. You can see refreshed-looking skin up to 6 months post-treatment. Glow was reported by patients using a validated questionnaire that included satisfaction with how radiant their skin looked.
Moisturize Regularly
Invest in a rich, hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin supple and moisturized. Look for products that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and shea butter, as these help to lock in moisture and keep your skin nourished. We love our handpicked and curated RSVP private label Hydration serum, SkinMedica Dermal Repair cream, Epionce Intensive Moisturising cream and Enriched Firming mask, which you can use as a mask or even sleep in it. So luxurious!
Gentle Cleansing
Avoid harsh, fragranced, or drying cleansers during the winter months. Instead, select fragrance-free cleansers that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Even if your skin is acne-prone, cleansers containing hydrating oils are excellent for removing makeup and dirt without stripping your skin. SkinMedica facial cleanser fits the bill.
Get a Humidifier
The indoor heating systems that we use to stay warm during the winter months might be great for keeping warm and cozy, but they wreak havoc on our skin. Consider using a humidifier to add moisture to the air, especially in your bedroom. This simple addition can make a noticeable difference in keeping your skin healthy and moisturized.
Exfoliate Wisely
While exfoliation is essential for removing dead skin cells, overdoing it can worsen dry skin conditions and cause you to flake. Avoid harsh exfoliating products like apricot scrubs or highly concentrated peels during the winter months. Instead, choose fine scrubs or mild chemical exfoliants, and be sure to always follow up with a moisturizer.
Wear Your Sunscreen
It’s a common misconception that sunscreen is a product that we only need during the summer months. Even though it might be cloudier during winter, the sun’s harsh rays can still damage our skin if we don’t protect ourselves. We recommend wearing a product containing an SPF of 30 or more daily 365 days a year. We have an extensive list of Sunscreens from Colorscience and Skinbetter Science, check them out here.
