Dysport and Botox

Botox Vs. Dysport: What’s the Difference?

Most people watch celebrities and wonder, how do they look so young? It’s an open secret in Hollywood that Botox is one of the most prolific anti-aging treatments available. Botox injections are unparalleled when it comes to smoothing wrinkles like frown lines, crow’s feet, laugh lines, forehead lines, and much more. Fortunately, Botox injections are more available than ever and you can look just as youthful and rejuvenated with a quick and easy treatment here at RSVP Med Spa.

If you’ve considered Botox treatment, you may have also heard of Dysport injections. This alternative can give new patients pause because of its similarity to Botox treatments. Ultimately, both contain botulinum toxin, an ingredient that excels at blocking nerve signals and weakening facial muscles at the injection site, relaxing facial expressions that cause signs of aging. However, there are minor differences between Dysport and Botox. Here is what to know about Dysport vs. Botox and which of these cosmetic procedures is best for you.

What is the cost of Botox or Dysport Injections?

The most frequently asked question we hear is which option costs more. The short answer is that it depends. Botox and Dysport are priced according to the number of units required to get your intended look. Because they’re different products, the number of units varies for a similar treatment. They’re also priced differently. However, both options calculate out to be similar in price for the same treatment areas – you may find that Dysport is slightly cheaper, but it can vary based on your location, treatment plan, and chosen provider.

What areas of the face can Botox and Dysport treat?

Both options are very similar and can be used to treat similar concerns. Botox is FDA-approved to treat facial wrinkles such as frown lines (glabellar lines), forehead lines, and crow’s feet. On the other hand, Dysport treatments are only FDA-approved for glabellar lines or frown lines, the vertical lines between the brows. Dysport is still used to treat many of the same concerns as Botox, but these uses are considered off-label and come with a higher degree of risk. Still, both Botox and Dysport are used off-label for treatments such as the lip flip, Botox brow lift, gummy smile treatment, and much more.

How long do Botox and Dysport last?

This can be hard to judge since both Dysport and Botox can vary from person to person and treatment to treatment. Both options begin to show results within 1-2 days but can take up to two weeks to produce full results. Each option typically lasts for 3-4 months, but the duration of your results can depend on factors like your metabolism, previous Botox injections, and much more. Because of the difference in manufacturing and the different proteins used, you may find that Dysport lasts slightly longer.

Botox Vs. Dysport: Which one is right for me?

It can be difficult to judge which of these two treatments will work best for you without the help of an experienced injector. During a consultation, our aesthetic experts can assess your facial muscles, muscle contractions, and overall signs of aging to help you develop a personalized treatment plan. Ultimately, one option may simply work better for you than the other. Whether you choose Botox or Dysport treatments, our team will help you look your best.
